Rent Affordability Calculator Tool Overview

The Rent Affordability Calculator Tool consists of three sections:

1. Form
2. Results
3. Add To Budget

Form

This section requires all the necessary details to estimate your rent affordability.

• Required Information: All fields must be filled out to calculate your estimated net monthly income.

Calculate:

• Once the form is completed, click “Calculate” to process the data.
• Error Handling: Any errors in the form will be displayed and block the calculation.

Results

The results provided will include four key estimates:

1. Estimated Net Monthly Income
2. Rent Payment Estimates:
   • Safe Range: A conservative estimate for comfortable rent payment.
   • Sweet Spot: A balanced estimate, not too low or too high.
   • Pushing It: A higher-end estimate, should be treated as a last resort and not exceeded.

Add To Budget

• Add To Budget Buttons: After generating a calculation, three “Add To Budget” buttons will appear next to the results.
• Functionality: Tapping one of these buttons will update the “Rent or Mortgage” field in the Housing Information section of BudgetBuilder.
  • Entry Details:
    • Selection: “Rent”
    • Amount: The value associated with the chosen estimate (Safe Range, Sweet Spot, or Pushing It)
