Privacy Policy

We collect only what is necessary to operate BetterBudgets:

• Account information — name and email address provided when you create an account with your email and a password.
• Budget & plan data — income, expenses, goals, and other financial figures you manually enter. This data is yours, and it is never sold or shared.
• Device & usage data — device type, operating system, crash logs, and anonymized in-app analytics collected while you are using the app.
• Payment information — subscription status and purchase history, managed by the app stores or our web checkout provider. We never receive or store card numbers.
• Referral data — your referral code, which code you applied, and whether a referral qualified, if you take part in the Referral Program.

We do not connect to your bank accounts, import transaction history, ask for banking credentials, or perform cross-app tracking. Every figure in BetterBudgets is one you typed in.

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve BetterBudgets.
• Sync your budget data securely across your devices.
• Send account notifications and, where you opt in, reminders and tips.
• Process and manage your subscription.
• Operate the Referral Program — match a code to the person who shared it, issue rewards, and prevent abuse.
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
• Comply with applicable laws and legal obligations.

We do not use your budget data to sell advertising, to build a profile of you, or to train anything.

We use the figures you enter to calculate your budgets, plans, projections, and calculator results. Those outputs are estimates built only from what you typed in, and they are not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. BetterBudgets does not know your full financial situation, and processing your information to produce these results does not make us your financial advisor or create any advisory or fiduciary relationship.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We share data only in these limited cases:

• With service providers — the vendors that operate parts of the app on our behalf, covering cloud hosting and storage, crash reporting and analytics, and subscription and payment processing. Each receives only what it needs to perform that service, may use it only to provide that service to us, and may not use it for its own purposes.
• Legal requirements — if required by court order, law enforcement, or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.
• Business transfers — in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data may transfer to the successor entity, which remains bound by this policy.

BetterBudgets LLC is based in the United States, and we store and process data there. BetterBudgets is available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union and EEA, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and a number of other countries. If you use BetterBudgets from outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your own country.

For transfers out of the European Economic Area we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, and for transfers out of the United Kingdom on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, together with the additional safeguards those instruments require. You may request a copy of the relevant safeguards by emailing support@betterbudgets.io.

Everyone. You may:

• Access, correct, or delete your account at any time in the app or by contacting us.
• Turn off push notifications in your device settings.
• Turn off analytics in your device or app settings.
• Opt out of marketing emails with one click.
• Stop taking part in the Referral Program at any time, and ask us to delete the referral data associated with your account.
• Request deletion of all your data by emailing support@betterbudgets.io.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect and share, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, the right to opt out of its "sale" or sharing (we do neither), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

European Union, EEA, and United Kingdom residents (GDPR and UK GDPR). You have the right to access your data, to rectify inaccurate data, to erase it, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. We process your data to perform our contract with you, to meet legal obligations, and — for analytics and fraud prevention — on the basis of our legitimate interests. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Canadian residents (PIPEDA and provincial laws). You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request corrections, to request deletion, and to withdraw consent to processing at any time.

Australian and New Zealand residents (Privacy Act 1988 and Privacy Act 2020). You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request correction, and to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner.

Everywhere else BetterBudgets is available. Your local law may give you rights similar to those above — for example under Singapore's PDPA or South Africa's POPIA. Contact us and we will honor them to the extent your law requires.

To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app tools or email support@betterbudgets.io. We respond within 30 days, or the timeframe required by your local law. We will not ask you for anything beyond what we need to verify your identity.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service and meet our legal obligations. Inactive accounts are deleted or anonymized after 24 months of inactivity. Referral records are kept for up to 12 months after a referral is settled, or longer where needed for accounting or legal purposes. You may request immediate deletion of your account and data at any time.

We use industry-standard protections, including TLS encryption in transit and AES-256 encryption at rest, and managed access controls limiting which staff can reach production data. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

BetterBudgets is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@betterbudgets.io and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect, unless a change is required immediately by law. The updated policy is posted on this page with a revised effective date and version. Continued use of BetterBudgets after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
