Delete Your Account
Applies to the BetterBudgets app by BetterBudgets LLC · Updated: August 2, 2026
TWO WAYS TO DELETE
You can delete your BetterBudgets account at any time — directly in the app, or by emailing us if you can no longer sign in. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
1.Delete in the app (fastest)
If you can still sign in, this takes effect immediately:
- Open the BetterBudgets app and sign in.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm when prompted by tapping Delete.
You will be signed out immediately and your account will no longer be accessible. If the app asks you to sign in again first, that is a security check — sign back in and repeat the steps.
2.Request deletion by email
If you cannot access the app or have lost access to your sign-in method, email us and we will delete the account for you:
Or write to support@betterbudgets.io with the subject "Account Deletion Request".
Please include:
- The email address on the account.
- Your username, if you know it.
- Which sign-in method you used (Apple, Google, or email & password).
We must send the request from — or verify ownership of — the account email address before deleting anything. We confirm receipt within 3 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.
3.What gets deleted
Deletion is permanent. We erase:
- Your login — the account credentials are destroyed, not just disabled, and cannot be used or recovered.
- Your profile — name, email address, phone number, and profile photo.
- All of your budgets and plans — every budget, saved variant, income, expense, debt, and goal you created.
- Your canvas boards and any files you uploaded to the app.
- Your notification history, notification settings, and push notification tokens.
- Your marketing and email list subscriptions.
Your username is retired rather than reused, so no one can register it and be mistaken for you. It is no longer linked to your identity and cannot be signed in with.
Anything you submitted that involves other people — app feedback, or a referral credited to someone who referred you — is anonymized: the record stays, the link to you is severed.
4.What is retained, and for how long
Only these narrow categories survive deletion:
- Aggregate, de-identified statistics — budget patterns already stripped of any identifier, used to improve our recommendations. These cannot be traced back to you or reconstructed into your budget.
- Transaction and billing records — retained as long as required by tax and accounting law. Purchases made through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Stripe are held by those providers under their own policies. If you earned affiliate payouts, that payment ledger is kept for the same reason, with your identity removed.
- A dated record that the deletion happened — the date and nothing else, so we can evidence compliance. It contains no personal information.
- Security and fraud logs — retained only as long as needed to protect the service and meet legal obligations.
Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
5.Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription — those are billed by the store you purchased through, and you will keep being charged until you cancel with them:
- Google Play— Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → BetterBudgets → Cancel.
- Apple App Store — Settings → your name → Subscriptions → BetterBudgets → Cancel Subscription.
- Stripe (web) — manage it from your billing portal in the app, or email us.
Cancel before deleting your account so you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.
