We collect only what is necessary to operate BetterBudgets:

• Account information — name and email address provided during sign-up or sign-in (via Apple, Google, or email/password).
• Budget & plan data — income, expenses, goals, and other financial data you manually enter into the app. This data is yours and is never sold or shared.
• Device & usage data — device type, operating system, crash logs, and anonymized in-app analytics collected via Google Analytics while you are using BetterBudgets.
• Payment information — subscription status and purchase history are managed by Apple App Store, Google Play, or Stripe. We do not store full card numbers or payment credentials in our systems.

We do not track your activity outside of BetterBudgets, access your bank accounts, or perform cross-app tracking.

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the BetterBudgets app and services.
• Sync your budget data securely across your devices.
• Send you important account notifications and, where you opt in, reminders or tips.
• Process and manage your subscription through Apple, Google, or Stripe.
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
• Comply with applicable laws and legal obligations.

We do not use your personal budget data to sell advertising or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited cases:

• Legal requirements — if required by court order, law enforcement, or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.
• Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may transfer to the successor entity, which will remain bound by this policy.

BetterBudgets is based in the United States and our data is stored and processed primarily in the US. If you access the app from outside the US (including Canada, the EU/EEA, the UK, Australia, or New Zealand), your information may be transferred to and processed in the US.

Where required, we rely on EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and other approved mechanisms to protect your data during international transfers.

Everyone

• Access, correct, or delete your account at any time in the app or by emailing us.
• Turn off push notifications or analytics in your device settings.
• Request deletion of all your data by contacting us directly.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

• Right to know what data we collect and how it is shared.
• Right to delete your personal information.
• Right to opt out of the "sale" of data (we do not sell data).
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

EU / EEA, UK, Australia, and New Zealand residents (GDPR and equivalent)

• Right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data.
• Right to restrict or object to processing.
• Right to data portability.
• Right to withdraw consent at any time.
• Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@betterbudgets.io. We respond within 30 days (or the timeframe required by your local law).

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Inactive accounts are deleted or anonymized after 24 months of inactivity. You may request immediate deletion of your account and data at any time.

We use industry-standard protections including TLS encryption in transit and AES-256 encryption at rest, managed access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

BetterBudgets is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice at least 30 days in advance (unless an immediate change is required by law). The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised "Updated" date.
