Calculators Overview

BetterBudgets includes a suite of financial calculators built for one purpose: helping you see what a new financial commitment does to your life before you commit.

Thinking about a car? Run the numbers. Considering refinancing your student loans? Check it first. About to sign a mortgage? Calculate the real cost.

Available Calculators

  • Student Loan Calculator
  • Mortgage Calculator
  • Debt Payoff Calculator
  • Auto Loan Calculator
  • Early Mortgage Payoff — see how extra monthly payments shorten your mortgage
  • Debt Consolidation — compare consolidating multiple debts into one
  • Paycheck Calculator — calculate your take-home pay after taxes and deductions
  • Rent Affordability — determine how much rent you can comfortably afford
  • Retirement / 401(k) — project your retirement savings based on contribution rate and timeline

How to Access Calculators

Calculators are available from the Calculators tab in the main navigation. They're available on both the Free and Thrive plans.

Using a Calculator with Your Budget

Calculators are standalone tools — they don't automatically modify your saved budget. After running a calculation, if you decide to move forward with the financial commitment, add the resulting payment as an expense or debt in your Budget Builder to see how it affects your full plan.
