BetterBudgets was built from day one around a single principle: your financial data belongs to you.
What We Never Ask For
- ›Bank account credentials or login information
- ›Plaid, Yodlee, or any open banking connection
- ›Social Security Number
- ›Credit card numbers
- ›Transaction history from your bank
If an app asks for your bank login, it has access to your full financial history. We explicitly chose not to build that way.
What Data BetterBudgets Stores
BetterBudgets stores only what you explicitly enter:
- ›Your budget inputs (income, expenses, debt amounts)
- ›Your tracking entries (amounts you log manually)
- ›Your account credentials (email + encrypted password)
- ›App preferences and settings
That's it. No transaction data. No bank statements. No purchase history.
Where Your Data Lives
Your budget data is stored securely in BetterBudgets' cloud infrastructure (Firebase/Google Cloud). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Deleting Your Account
To permanently delete your account and all associated data, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This action is irreversible. All budgets, tracking history, and Canvas content are permanently deleted.
You can also request account deletion by emailing support@betterbudgets.io from your registered email address.
Third-Party Services
BetterBudgets uses a limited set of third-party services for core functionality:
- ›Firebase — authentication and data storage
- ›RevenueCat — subscription management (processes no financial data beyond subscription status)
- ›Stripe — payment processing for web subscriptions (we never see your full card number)
We do not sell data to advertisers. We do not use your financial inputs for any purpose other than running the app for you.
