Using Canvas
Canvas opens as a blank page ready for your input. Here's how to get the most out of it.
Getting Started
Open Canvas from the main navigation. You'll see your existing pages (if any) or a prompt to create your first one. Tap New Canvas to begin.
Drawing and Writing
- ›Apple Pencil — the most natural input. Pressure sensitivity and tilt are supported for drawing.
- ›Finger — works on all devices. Good for tapping and selecting; drawing is functional but less precise.
- ›Keyboard — type text directly onto the canvas using the text tool.
Tools
The Canvas toolbar gives you access to:
- ›Pen / Pencil — freehand drawing with variable weight
- ›Highlighter — semi-transparent color overlays
- ›Eraser — remove strokes
- ›Text — insert typed labels and notes
- ›Shapes — rectangles, circles, arrows, lines
- ›Select — tap to select and move any element
- ›Zoom — pinch to zoom, scroll to pan
Managing Pages
Each Canvas document can have multiple pages. Tap the Pages icon to add, reorder, or delete pages. This is useful for organizing different ideas — one page per financial scenario, for example.
Saving and Syncing
Canvas saves automatically. Everything is synced across your devices so you can sketch on your iPad and review on your iPhone or the web.
Sharing
You can export any Canvas page as a PDF or image using the share button in the top right. Useful for sharing a plan with a partner, financial advisor, or just keeping a record.
